Go rock-and-roll style with retro glam look in polka dot dress.
Generally most polka dot was made in black and white tones and usually make you look dull and bore. Why not make your piece bright and catchy by playing along with hues red, yellow or green for accessories like belt, bag, shoes and jewellery.
Chic one shoulder soft white polka-dot dance across the black background of this dress with contrasting sash belt that looks beautiful retro yet chic. She looks perfect with this wide-brim floppy straw hat with grosgrain ribbon and bow. Touch up a little by slipping in a pair of red and elegant peep toe pump stiletto heel to make a difference. Gor·geous!
It delivers the hottest looks of the spring/summer season and this smashing one shoulder polka dot dress is no exception.

Shoes

The style this year is plain and traditional. Many starlets were seen at the Oscars with monochromatic outfits, little jewelry and subdued handbags. Trend watching prom goers will probably be keeping up with these celebrity styles. If you are not a trend watcher, or just want to stick to your own style, you can use your shoes as a statement to add flair to your outfit.
If you'd like to make the maximum statement, choose a bright colored dress and match the shoes exactly. Be careful when you do this, though, so you don't get a total color overload. Picking an extremely bright dress and shoes can be distracting to the eye and not give any "visual separation", a fancy term for focal point in your outfit. It can also leave you second guessing your choice the night of prom.
To avoid second guessing, try less extreme and more traditional colors, such as bright blue or red, with interesting visual details on the fabric. Experiment with asymmetrical necks or hemlines, embellishments or appealing ties or buttons. You should also work to keep from exact matching on shoe and dress colors. The shade of the shoes should be a shade or two lighter or darker than the shade of the dress.
You can also pair brightly colored shoes with a tasteful patterned dress. Choose the brightest, most prominent color from your dress for the shoes. This technique will let you experiment with exciting combinations and make an impression, without donning too much color.
For the more traditional, or those who just can't decide on a specific dress color, use your shoes to add interest and flair to a neutral gown. You can pair nearly any color or pattern with a black dress. Use the easy matching to try extreme shoes colors and patterns that you would normally pass over.
When choosing your shoes, don't limit yourself to plain old heels, either. Depending upon the style of your dress, you can try boots, flats, ballerina slippers or stilettos. Shoes with extra embellishments will supplement your other accessories, and can be used to mix and match patterns, colors and styles throughout your outfit.
Your prom outfit should be a reflection of your own style and personality. Use all these elements to supplement you style and show off what you've chosen for your prom style.

Pure in White

Shopping for a white dress is knowledge. Always check the transparency factor if you are shopping for white dress. Try to select quality fabric with heavier count cottons and lined inside to avoid the see-through problem. Never wear patterned or bright colorful underwear to draw attention to the wrong place. Wear skin color bras or/and underwear to ensure nothing peeps through. Avoid wearing white shoes to look overwhelming. Metallic colors like silver, bronze or gold sandals look perfect with white dress and grey, beige or brown make a great choice. Oh yes! never wear a white dress to a wedding as this will upstage the bride. It’s okay to wear a little white blouse or matching jewelry but not a fully white dress, please!

Pretty in Pink

Feel like a princess with pink. Pink looks great in almost everyone, but head-to-toe hues can be overwhelmed even the girlish girl.
Try pink with neutral shade like white or cream. The color blend perfectly to make you feel oh-so feminine and girly.
Hot pink is a bold color and might not be suitable for everyone but trying is half the battle with spring/summer fashion season. You may choose it as a color of an accessory like belt, clutch bag, shoes, scarf or even necklaces, earrings, bangle or bracelet as an add on to your outfit to stand out from the crowd. Not too loud yet chic!

Express Yourself With Colors

Mixing and matching is a personal choice, you create your very own style! Well, let’s get to understand and have fun with colors.
White
Considered a summer color, a good choice for tops. Always have some in your wardrobe. It readily matches bottoms of any color; a pair of blue denim jeans, Khakis pants, a gray skirt, a bright colorful beach bermudas? You name it! Associated with cleanliness and purity, innocence and gentleness…, it gives you a feeling of freedom and uncluttered openness. Women just always look that lovely in their snowy white wedding gown, don’t they?
Tips: add a little touch of white to brighten or lighten up your mood eg. a white tank top with blue denim jean, white cotton jacket over a hot pink velour smocked baby doll dress or a simply all white for a simple breezy look.
Black

A mysterious color, it gives you a feeling of perspective and depth. Symbolizing elegance and refinement, it is always regarded as a prestigious color.
Tips : pair up black with other dark colors for an attractive mature look eg. a brown wool button front cardigan with black pinstripe bootcut pants, gray tweed cropped blazer with black stretch pintuck pencil skirt.
Red

Tips : pair up red with colors within the red family itself for various moods eg. a red retro style tee with maroon pleated skirt, hot pink cotton v-neck tank with red fleece collegiate mini skirt.
Yellow

Tips : pair up yellow with dark or lucid cool colors for a striking youthful look eg. a yellow ruched halter top with black wool full skirt, yellow roll edge t-shirt with turquoise polka dot tiered mini skirt.
Blue
A popular color liked by most. Emotionally opposite of red & yellow, it brings about a very soothing & relaxing feel, pleasant to the eyes. Naturally refreshing in mood, it’s a good choice for daytime wear. The color of summer skies and the sea, often associated with calmness, affection, idealism and inspiration.

Tips : match blue with white for a refreshing and sporty look eg. a bright blue cotton v-neck hoodie with white stretch cotton studded pants, white terry track jacket with pale blue faded jean.
A feminine color for girls. Similar to blue, it’s soothing and pleasant to the eyes. Naturally sweet in mood, it has a lasting girly appeal. Girls in pink tend to portrait a very sweet & pleasant image, always attractive to the guys. The color of cotton candy, often associated with warm, everlasting affection & tender love.
Tips : add a little pink to bring out the feminine touch eg. matching your black satin strapless sash dress with a pink crocodile clutch, pink collar tee with black stretched cotton cropped pant.
Well, there are simply too many colors if I were to go on. I believe you should now have a feel of how matching of colors can be of so much fun? In simple, just play by the color rules:
- Stick to one color (all white, blue, red…)
- Hot goes with cool (match yellow with green or blue not with red, it might be too hot!)
- Use neutral colors to draw the looks together (white, gray, beige and black are good neutral colors)
- Play around with color of the same family (pink with maroon, sky blue with navy blue…)
Remember, you create your very own style. Have fun!
